Augmented reality glasses could be Lenovo Legion Go's secret weapon.

With its combination of a Steam Deck-like design and removable controllers a la Nintendo Switch, the Lenovo Legion Go already has a lot going for it. However, its main selling point might be a set of augmented reality glasses.

The AR glasses will incorporate peripherals into the speculated handheld PC’s ecosystem, according to sources at WindowsReport.

There are no specifications for the glasses, but based on the photographs WindowsReport has seen, they should be light enough to wear for lengthy gaming sessions and link to the Go through a USB-C cable. It’s unclear what the glasses will add to the table, although they might function as a method to view a large screen without actually connecting the Legion Go to a TV or large monitor.

This is crucial for AR and VR headsets because a high refresh rate—say, 90Hz or higher—helps to reduce motion sickness.

We anticipate seeing the Legion Go and these AR glasses on display at IFA 2023 in Berlin, where we also hope to get a chance to test them out for ourselves. The Legion Go, which is expected to use an AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, should be able to compete with devices like the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and AyaNeo 2S in terms of performance.

The Legion Go’s possible pricing is our biggest worry, aside from the software implementation and execution issues that have so far marred certain handheld PCs.

Lenovo may limit the sale of the Legion Go to only China and other countries where Lenovo has a large presence. That would be unfortunate because more mobile computers would spur more research and invention in the field.
