One of the main goals of robots is to do jobs that are too dangerous for humans. In some cases, it can be a repetitive task that might eventually lead to injuries or task that is directly in contact with a particular danger. Robots with Artificial Intelligence help in different ways in the US military. And here is the list of popular robots used in the US military.

MAARS

The MAARS (Modular Advanced Armed Robotic System) with it modular design allows the controller to outfit it variety of armaments, ranging from lasers to tear gas.

Powerful, modular and combat-ready, the Modular Advanced Armed Robotic System (MAARS) is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). It is designed specifically for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA) missions. It helps to increase the security of personnel manning forward locations. MAARS can be positioned in remote areas where personnel are currently unable to monitor their security. And it can also carry either a direct or indirect fire weapon system.

SAFFir

Firefighting is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. And so it is natural to want to find ways to save human life.SAFFir’s design support functions in the military. This robot developed by Virginia Tech engineering students. It can extinguish fires that break out on Naval ships and is still under development. SAFFir help to avoid potential injuries as a result of this dangerous task.

The SAFFiR project is all about helping firefighters in their everyday job. The project is a collaboration between Virginia Tech’s Terrestrial Robotics Engineering and Controls Lab (TREC), Extreme Environments, Robotics & Materials Laboratory and the U.S. Navy. The goal is to, eventually, better assist sailors in fighting fires, controlling damage and carrying out inspections onboard ships. SAFFiR is short for Shipboard Autonomous Firefighting Robot.

The robot reminds a little of the Boston Dynamics ATLAS. However, the students from Virginia Tech seem to have started from scratch. There are various departments working on the development of the robot. They appear to have incorporated very particular technology into the way the robot moves.

Gladiator

Gladiator assists the US Marine Corps in various operations. It can outfit with various modular tools and armaments depending on the situation. It runs at 10 miles per hour and allows to mount machine guns and grenade launchers.

The Gladiator Tactical Unmanned Ground Vehicle (Gladiator TUGV) program was developed in order to support the United States Marine Corps.  conduct of Ship To Object Maneuver (STOM) missions through the use of a medium-sized, robotic system to minimize risks and eliminate threats to Marines during the conflict. The Gladiator is able to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, assault and breaching missions within its basic technical configuration.
